Library
The Georg Eckert Institute Library is a unique national and international research library in the field of comparative textbook research. The library has the most extensive collection of international textbooks on the subjects of history, geography, politics/social studies and German.
In connection with a considerable inventory of scholarly literature, the library affords the ideal requirements for the comparative research of the textbook medium. Users include academics, textbook authors, teachers, students, journalists, film-makers and private individuals.
With its collection of textbooks, the library has been incorporated as a Specialty Collection Library of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation). As a part of this, the library is one of 46 German special subject collections/ specialised libraries, which together administrate the tasks of a divided national library.
In addition to this, the Georg Eckert Institute Library serves as the textbook centre of the Council of Europe.
